FICCI seeks tax sops for packaging industry

FICCI has demanded fiscal incentives for the packaging industry, citing findings of its survey which says higher cost of packaging on account of costly raw material and higher duties was impacting the demand for processed foods.

The domestic packaging industry, which is worth $ 18.8 billion and growing at over 15% annually, is characterised by a large number of small players and only a few large players with national presence, according to FICCI

DuPont opens first customer technical centre in India

Dupont India announced the launch of the 'DuPont customer technical centre' (CTC) in partnership with the SIES School of Packaging, Mumbai

The DuPont CTC has installed state-of-the-art laboratoriesand innovative processing equipment that will offer flexographic printing technnology and training to OEM customers and industrial partners in the domestic printing and packaging industry.

Monotech Systems focuses on digital printing

Monotech Systems Ltd, Chennai has installed 500+ equipment including imagesetters, CtPs, digital and large format printers.

The company is planning to sell high-end 508mm web digital printers with 1-pass duplex facility from Xeikon, Belgium to tap the growing digital printing segment, particularly in the transactional print on demand and labels category.

Indian products in Swedish packaging

The Swedish packaging giant, Billerud is all set to invest in the Indian market. The company plans to work with Indian counterparts by making joint ventures and market collaboration for producing high quality packaging products.

Billerud is a name synonym for the manufacturing of high quality packaging products and have entered almost all speres in the packaging segment.

Paper prices seen up on high input cost, demand

Paper makers are set to hike prices again in the quarter to offset rising input costs and also as the gap between surging demand and weak supplies widened, industry players said.

India's largest paper producer Ballarpur Industries Ltd., raised uncoated paper prices by 500 Rupees a tonne in October and Star Paper, West Coast and J K Paper Mills may also hike prices they said.

GIPT - Mumbai Alumni Association launched
 

The GIPT-Mumbai Alumni Association was launched with great fanfare on 12th Sept 2007.The primary aim of this association would be to play a positive role in the field of education.

The first meeting of the GIPT-Mumbai Alumni Association was held on Friday 14th March 2008 at 5.30pm at GIPT Mumbai. To take the concept / idea ahead, the first managing committee was elected. Till today 66 members have been enrolled.
